In response to these demographic changes, North Simcoe is building on its comprehensive healthcare infrastructure, which includes two significant anchors; namely Georgian Bay General hospital (GBGH) and the internationally recognized Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care.
Georgian Bay General Hospital is a 116-bed hospital in Midland serving the communities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Townships of Tay and Tiny, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township and Springwater Township. Located in historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of Toronto, GBGH offers services comparable to other community hospitals in the province supporting the general health care needs of our patients.
The Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is a 301-bed psychiatric hospital providing acute and long-term psychiatric inpatient and outpatient services to Simcoe County, Dufferin County and Muskoka/Parry Sound. Waypoint is the region’s only specialty mental health hospital and has the province’s only high secure forensic mental health programs for clients served by both the mental health and justice systems.
