Agriculture drives economy, writes Ted Walker. In celebration of Ontario Agriculture Week, members of council joined me on a tour of local farms.
Dr. Joel Rumney and Leah Emms of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture guided the informational tour. Agriculture in Tay continues to thrive. It’s one of the primary economic drivers of our region.
Tay is home to a wide variety of crops—from hay to soybeans. There are 10,939 acres of farm land in Tay, stretched across 67 farms. The average farm in our community is 163 acres.
