On December 6, 2016, the Economic Development Corporation of North Simcoe delivered the fourth 2016 Manufacturers’ Roundtable. Ian Howcroft, Vice-President of Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME), congratulated EDCNS, our local manufacturers and our partners: The County of Simcoe and the municipalities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Tay and Tiny, on our successes this year.

The EDCNS “Accelerating Advanced Manufacturing Growth” Prosperity Summit held on June 16, 2016, was discussed highlighting CME’s presentation on funding available through the CME SMART Programs, a partnership with the Government of Ontario and Canada’s FedDev Ontario and FedNor Agencies. Ian referenced “Accelerating Innovation in Manufacturing” (AIIM) funding opportunity presented by the Yves Landry Foundation’s at the EDCNS 2016 Prosperity Summit.

Reports of the “Industrie 2030 (i2030 ) Summit” held in October on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, of which EDCNS is a partner, were presented. Collectively, these reports constitute the complete research and recommendations into what it will take to double Canadian manufacturing output and value-added exports by 2030.
