Approximately 200 new students walked into the Robbert Hartog Midland Campus of Georgian College for orientation day Tuesday.
Students were given a free breakfast before attending an assembly and then breaking into study groups.
“Skilled trades are in big demand right now. Nine months from now, most of you will have full-time work,” said Mac Greaves, Associate Dean of the Midland and Bracebridge campuses of Georgian College.
The Midland campus is Georgian’s only dedicated trade campus and one of the few in Ontario’s college system, Greaves said.
The college offers five trades, three apprenticeships and academic upgrading.
Trades include marine mechanic, electrical, small engine, welding and plumbing. They offer Level 1 apprenticeships for electrical, plumbing and multi-trade for a total of 320 students.
