The Town of Midland is seeking millions of dollars in provincial and federal grants to help revitalize one of the most valuable vacant properties in town.

Midland Bay Landing has been identified as the epicentre of the town’s strategic priorities moving forward. A vision has been developed that would see the 40-acre site used to enhance year-round tourism, promote culture and recreation, and commemorate the region’s unique history.

“We have a jewel of a property with 1,100 metres of waterfront right on Georgian Bay. The potential it holds is absolutely fantastic,” said Bill Kernohan, chair of the Midland Bay Landing Development Corporation’s board of directors.

A master plan developed in 2013 after extensive public consultation laid out the framework of the town’s vision for the site.
