Almost $10 million in new funds announced by the Ministry of Health on December 13 will pay to complete the interior of the long-awaited Community Health Hub in Midland.

Robin Martin, parliamentary assistant to Health Minister Christine Elliott, announced $9.8 million in funds to complete the project, which is slated to open in April at the modern facility on Bayshore Drive.

“Our government will end hallway healthcare by investing in innovative projects like the new Community Health Hub that will help more patients and families access co-ordinated care in a single location,” she said at the announcement made at Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care in Penetanguishene.

The new facility brings together Waypoint’s outpatient clinic, all the Chigamik Community Health Care services and the HERO Centre (housing, employment, rehabilitation and Our Place social programs) under one roof.

Simcoe North MPP Jill Dunlop said, “By offering programs in the same physical space, it will make it easier for residents to get the help they need.”
