A new historical festival celebrating francophone heritage may be coming to Penetanguishene next year, pending the outcome of a feasibility study.

La Clé d’la Baie en Huronie has received a federal grant for approximately $60,000 to complete a study to see if a new festival would be well received by the community.

Sylvia Bernard, executive director of La Clé, sees the new festival as a way to promote the region’s rich cultural heritage. It also has the potential for spinoffs.

“It has everything to become an instrument for economic and tourism development for the francophone community in the region,” she said.
