BRIGNEL KENNAIR (BRIG) is a Director on the North Simcoe Tourism Board. A semi-retired consultant, (CCS Solutions Inc.) Brig’s experience as a business change facilitator includes: Director, Strategic Finance Projects at CIBC World Markets in New York and Toronto; Corporate Development & Business Management at INTRIA Items Inc. and Finance Infrastructure Projects at Blackberry (RIM). Brig has a BSC (Economics) Honours from the University of London, UK, and holds PMP certification from the Project Management Institute. An active community participant and former director of a number of not-for-profit organizations, Brig is an enthusiastic supporter of adventure tourism for North Simcoe.
KATHRYN STEPHENSON is a Director of the North Simcoe Tourism Board. Kathryn is the Manager of Tourism Simcoe County. She has more than 25 years of experience in marketing, sales and hospitality, with an extensive background in the tourism and hospitality industry including accommodation, conference, food and beverage, golf and ski operations. Previously Kathryn was Marketing Manager for the Department of Culture & Heritage with the City of Orillia and prior to that General Manager at Stone Gate Inn in Orillia. Kathryn provides leadership through her many roles sitting on numerous committees and boards including President of RTO7 (BruceGreySimcoe). In her position as Manager of Tourism Simcoe County, Kathryn is responsible for strategic development, municipal and private industry partnerships and collaborations, and product development, including experiential tourism. She has responsibility for driving cross-disciplinary initiatives to improve the sustainability performance of the tourism industry.
ANGELA KRUGER is a Director of the North Simcoe Tourism Board and currently acts as Secretary-Treasurer for the Corporation. Angela is the Executive Assistant to the Director of Martyrs’ Shrine, a non-profit religious site that welcomes over 100,000 visitors every year. Angela has promoted several local projects including the new “Discovery Tour” package & the Georgian Bay Trail/Pilgrim Route. She participated in the TAP committee and has past community volunteer experience with Tayshore Trail and Waubaushene Culture & Recreation Committee. Angela has previous board experience as the Treasurer with the Sistema Huronia Board of Directors. Angela has two College diplomas in the field of Parks and Forest Recreation and Natural Resources Law Enforcement, training in non-profit finance and many years’ experience in private, municipal and non-profit settings. Angela is a strong advocate of community partnerships in developing all aspects of tourism.
KEVIN COWIE is Chairman of the Economic Development Corporation of North Simcoe (EDCNS) and is the EDCNS representative on the North Simcoe Tourism Board of Directors. He has a technical background in structural engineering, software engineering, and advanced technology research. His experience includes senior management positions with leading providers of information systems and Internet services, as well as launching a successful management consulting practice. Before retiring to Midland, Kevin was Group Vice-President for Product Development with a multi-billion dollar, global, high-security company. Kevin holds a Bachelor of Engineering from The Technical University of Nova Scotia and an MBA from the Schulich School of Business at York University in Toronto.
WILL BAIRD is a Director on the North Simcoe Tourism Board. He is the General Manager, Huronia Historical Parks, Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport. Will brings an innovative and award winning Festival & Events Co-ordinator background having successfully executed on several major national and international events including Fort Fright, Sunset Ceremonies, Royal visits and USMC Joint Ceremonials. Will most recently served as Manager of Fort Henry in Kingston and has served on several committees (RTO 9) & Boards (Chair & Vice Chair – War of 1812 Alliance). Will taught Tourism and Event Management at St. Lawrence College. Will has a BA in Music from Carlton University and extensive professional designations within the Tourism & Events area.
ALLEX LAURIN is a Director on the North Simcoe Tourism Board. He is a Tourist Information & Event Specialist who helped co-ordinate the Rendez-Vous Champlain event for the Town of Penetanguishene. A business entrepreneur (Webanddoc) and active community volunteer (Winterama, Le Gout de vivre and other various organisations), Allex has experience in front-line promotion of our local tourism attractions. He is a former School Board Trustee and has graduated with a specialist high skills major in technology from École Secondaire Catholique Nouvelle-Alliance. Allex enthusiastically promotes tourism as an excellent avenue to economic sustainability for North Simcoe.<strong> </strong>
BRIAN PETER is a Director on the North Simcoe Tourism Board. Brian is married with two daughters. He retired from his role as the Director of Parks and Recreation for the Town of Midland in 2015 after 30 years with the Town. Previous experience with the Towns of Wiarton and Seaforth from 1975 to 1985. Graduate of Fanshawe College (Recreation Leadership) and Brock University (Bachelor of Recreation and Leisure Studies). Currently a member of the Midland Sports Hall of Fame committee, treasurer for the Midland Silver Stick, Culture Midland member, member of the Penetanguishene Trails committee. Brian just completed a contract with the Town of Midland as Games Manager for the 2016 Ontario 55+ Summer Games and currently working on contract as a Grants Specialist for the Town of Wasaga Beach. His interests include golf, hockey, the Blue Jays, family and friends, my cat and his Camaro!
ETHAN MELEG is a Director on the North Simcoe Tourism Board. Ethan grew up near Point Pelee National Park, which inspired his passion for nature and parks. He has worked for Parks Canada for nearly 2 decades, starting out as a nature guide on the Bruce Peninsula, and then shifting focus to tourism development and marketing. Ethan is also a pro photographer, who loves travelling to photograph wildlife, landscapes and outdoor adventures. His photos have been published by National Geographic, Canadian Geographic, Forbes, Lonely Planet and more. He is a columnist with Outdoor Photography Canada magazine, photo tour leader and popular presenter. Ethan currently lives in Tiny Township and works at Georgian Bay Islands National Park.
BRITTANY BLACK is the Tourism Director of the Heart of Georgian Bay, the new Destination Marketing Organization for North Simcoe. Brittany brings a marketing and events background from Tourism Barrie and, more recently, Hardwood Ski and Bike in Oro-Medonte. Her marketing efforts have included a website redesign, brand identity and alignment, an increase in social media audiences, long-term strategic planning, and preparation for the mountain bike events for the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games.
