Around 8,000 people are expected to descend upon Martyrs’ Shrine on July 20 for the annual Tamil Catholic Community Pilgrimage.

Tay Township officials are advising area residents to be prepared for traffic congestion on Highway 12 and Ogden’s Beach Road near Port McNicoll, as thousands of visitors flock to town by car and bus.

Every year, visitors and pilgrims of all faiths and cultures visit the Martyrs’ Shrine’s 75-acre property, which sits atop a hill overlooking both Georgian Bay and the Wye Marsh.
