Mike and Jennifer Hearn are unimpressed with the Ministry of Education’s plan for the 2020 school year, so much so that they’ve decided to offer local families an alternative.

The Hearns are transforming their business, the Action Play Centre, into a small private school. The Academic Play Centre: Midland’s Mini School will house two 10-student classrooms and offer an in-class educational experience in a “tightly locked bubble.”

“We kept waiting for the province to deliver a good plan — a plan that would make us feel comfortable sending our children back to school — and that didn’t happen,” said Mike Hearn. “We are not happy about it. We think that children should have an in-class experience.” []
