Midland’s Love Your Laneways project is set to go into high gear to give downtown businesses the best chance to keep customers coming in during the reconstruction of King Street this summer.

More than 30 businesses on both sides of King Street have signed on to make beautification and safety improvements to back entrances along Borsa and Bourgeois lanes.

“Some of the businesses have already done everything they want, some other businesses have started improvements and we are still waiting for grant applications from others,” said Burke Penny, Love Your Laneways project co-ordinator.

Business owners in downtown Midland are eligible for up to $6,000 each in funding for improvements to back entrances. []
